ZAC Recruitment is Seeking to fill a Quantity Surveyor Role

ZAC Recruitment is known as a niche recruiter to the Building Envelope of the construction sector. We are currently looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to work with a specialist architectural glass installer.

Our client covers façade works, balustrades, glass roofs, entrance systems, curtain walls, cladding systems and glass canopies. They have offices in Central London, and High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, and the Quantity Surveyor role can be based in either of these locations. The role requires a minimum five years’ experience in the construction industry.

Requirements of the Quantity Surveyor Role

We are looking for a candidate who has skills and experience in managing the financial costings related to installation projects, from the initial quotation through to final accounting. You will have a good knowledge of statutory building regulations, and be able to balance a consistently high standard of work with the best value for money.

Key elements of this role will include:

  • Perform risk, cost control and value management
  • Prepare and analyse costings for tenders
  • Prepare tender and contract documents
  • Value completed work and make arrangements for payment
  • Help with the estimation of clients’ needs and undertake feasibility studies
  • Work across multiple projects

In addition we require candidates who are able to allocate and manage work with subcontractors, and work closely with clients providing regular detailed reports to update them on the progress of their project. They will have a working knowledge of JCT 2005 and JCT 2011 contracts (with or without Design Portion D&B), and NEC and Fixed Price contracts.

The Specific Challenges of the Role

This senior role requires a range of leadership qualities related to the achievement of excellent costings for clients. Candidates will enjoy working independently, and be prepared to be on site with projects for a proportion of their time. The ability to communicate clearly and in an engaging and professional manner are key to developing trusted relationships with suppliers, contractors and clients.

Our client is looking for candidates who are eligible to work full-time in the UK, and carry a UK driving licence. They should have at least 5 years experience in the construction industry, working on a range of projects in the Quantity Surveyor role and hold a BA (or equivalent) in a construction related subject. Preferably, candidates would also hold a CSCS Card.
